abstract = "This study aimed zoning of the areas of greatest susceptibility to
the occurrence of fires in Taim Ecological Station by Landsat 8
images, considering the integrated effect of static and dynamic
variables. As static variables were used the declivity and the
distance from roads, while the temperature and the use and land
cover comprise the dynamic variables. The variables were
classified as low, moderate and high susceptibility to occurrence
of fire, being subsequently assigned weights ranging from one to
three. Thematic maps were integrated using a weighted mathematical
equation, resulting in spatial representation of the fire risk
zoning. With the results of this study, can identify the areas
most prone to fires, thus it was found that the 5668.83 ha (55.73%
of total area) showed low susceptibility to occurrence of fires in
the study area, while areas with high risk of fire occupy 4326.03
ha, covering 42.53%. This study shows that the areas of highest
risk of fires are located in the central part of the Taim
Ecological Station and next to the roads, thus these sites require
more attention and resources to combat possible outbreaks of
fires. The use of geotechnology facilitates decision making and
fire prevention strategies to ensure the preservation of
                         biodiversity existing.",
